Pearl Hotpot

A favourite little hotpot place I like to visit is called Pearl Hotpot (珍珠小火鍋), located in Burnaby. I often go there for lunch after my dentist appointments, or whenever we are in the area. It’s shabu shabu style where each person gets their own pot of soup, instead of one communal pot.

I normally get the “Fresh Fish Pot”, which is more expensive at 18.95CAD. I love seafood~

Fish slices with rice wine poured over. You can ask the server to add sake for more flavour.

Shan usually gets the “Special Pork Shoulder”, which is a steal at 13.95CAD. I love the pork!

Pork shoulder! We coat the slices in egg whites to preserve tenderness and flavour.

Each hotpot comes with an egg, a dish of special dipping sauce, a large place of veggies (among other “extras”) and a choice of rice, udon, noodles or vermicelli. Ice cream is included as dessert, but I am usually too full by then. Oh, and also a drink! I normally get fruit tea.

I saw this snarky graffiti behind the girl’s washroom door before we left. It’s ironic because fish and pork is what we always order when we’re here:

“Pig + Fish = Friends, Not Food!”
(But these friends are just so delicious!)

In the past, I didn’t always like hotpot. But this is one little hotpot place I’ve enjoyed time and time again!

Diamond Lash: Dolly Eye

One of my favourite lash trays from Diamond Lash is the “ドーリーeye”, which translates into “Dolly Eye” in English. (I seem to have a great connection to the doll-eye themed eyelashes, haha.)

Official close-up of “Dolly Eye” from Diamond Lash.

After the mediocre experience with the “Celebrity Eye” tray, I finally opened the “Dolly Eye” package I hunted specifically for. Normally for day-to-day wear I tend to only use cheapies, which are more expendable in case I feel too lazy to save them, but I was in the mood to put a bit more effort into my eye makeup.

★ Diamond Lash (Pink) – Dolly Eye

Five pairs come with each hot pink tray. The eyelashes are not too long, and the volume is excellent. The sides have little criss-cross of hairs, while the middle has a longer straighter hairs. It’s really great ~ I wore it to work, as well as meeting up with a dear friend Selina for bubbletea yesterday evening.

Darling Selina and I~

These lashes are definitely multi-purpose and can be used for all occasions. A pair lasts a very long time, and it’s very durable! One of my favourites for sure

I like to first outline the eye with a pencil eyeliner (I find Bobbi Brown kohl eyeliner or Dolly Wink pencil eyeliner in brown works well), go over the outline with a liquid liner (I use Dolly Wink liquid eyeliner), then apply any eyeshadow or shimmery liner. Then, I apply the eyelashes of choice.

Today at work, I used a lovely gold eyeshadow from a Shu Uemura palette. I hope to use more striking eyeshadow colours this summer

Diamond Lash has this limited edition yellow tray. Looks so divine! I want it~ Where can I find it?
